Have you ever had a pixel stuck/dead on your LCD? Typically these show up as a miscolored dot on your screen, or a black spot thats out of place. It can be a painful irritation and an expensive task to replace an LCD – so we’ve compiled some tips about repairing it.

My office: dual Apple 30 LCDs

The works-most-often method is simply applying pressure.

Firstly you need an “object” – this can be your finger but a dull pointed object is much better, don’t make the mistake of using something sharp though. A perfect object is a cellphone stylus.

Locate the dead pixel with your object and while keeping it there turn the monitor off. Put a soft cloth under the object and apply pressure – don’t tear through your screen and don’t press anywhere but on the stuck pixel – a mild amount of force is all thats required.

While doing this, turn the monitor on and then take your object off – it should now be fixed!
