A logo can single handedly make or break your brand. The right colors, fonts, shapes, positioning and size are all key factors to remember when designing a logo, but there are also somethings you shouldn’t do:
The worst deal you could probably go for is a logo design contest. Logo design contests are where you give a brief and then you have multiple designers come back to you with their designs. Although this sounds like a mighty good deal, the quality is usually far from anything you would want to represent your business.
But knowing what not to do is often the easiest part of getting something done. You know what your goals are and what you want the end result to sort of look like, but getting there is the hard part. Going back and forth between different ideas, ctrl+z a million times to get back to a blank image, giving up completely and then finally getting something you are happy with can be an intimidating task. So why not get some inspiration?
After recently writing about logo design, I thought that it would be good to give examples of what are good logos. Of course, many of these don’t respect some of the basic tips and still look great. As my design teachers used to say: “Once you know the rules, it’s time to break them”.
